GRAEME SHARP & MILO HARRUP, 16 DEGREES SOUTH

John’s home territory of Zimbabwe has many remote, unexplored or rarely visited areas and we can think of no-one better than Graeme Sharp and Milo Harrup of 16° South to reveal the best of these to you. Their absolute passion and love of their country is evident in the care, thought and endless enthusiasm they have for their multi-day, mobile expeditions in Mana Pools, Matusadona and Chizarira National Parks (all of which lie on the 16° South line of latitude in northern Zimbabwe). These trips are supported by two custom built, lightweight 4×4 expedition vehicles and premium camping equipment and technology. These are specifically designed to handle the challenging environment of remote destinations, whilst delivering a safe, comfortable and exceptional experience in an environmentally friendly manner.

MEET YOUR GUIDES

“…Graeme proved to be an excellent host and assistant guide to John on our recent Pitta safari. And Milo and the team set up the most thoughtful camps, with all the mod-cons, whilst maintaining safari authenticity. They can set up a camp pretty much anywhere, which means you can be truly off the beaten track. The food and drink are absolutely delicious, varied and plentiful! The attention to detail and fastidiousness of the entire team is very reassuring and appreciated. We cannot recommend this enough; you will simply have an unforgettable and truly enjoyable time.” Stuart and Teresa Graham

PLACE OF ELEPHANTS EXPEDITION – SEAN HIND, SAFARIS I CAN SEE

Safaris I Can See was set up in 2014 by Sean Hind and his wife, Sara with the aim to introduce adventurous guests to immersive safari experiences throughout Africa. The dream itinerary that Sean has put together for John Stevens Guided Expeditions Africa takes us to Gonarezhou, Zimbabwe’s second largest national park at over 5,000 sq km and known as “the place of elephants”. It is, in fact, home to incredible varied landscapes, including the iconic Chilojo Cliffs, over 11,500 pachyderms, 450 species of birds, 89 large mammal species, 61 small mammals, over 50 fish species, 116 identified reptile species and 34 amphibian species.

MEET YOUR GUIDE

The park forms an integral part of one of the largest conservation areas in the world – the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Park (GLTP), established in 2002. GLTP joins some of the iconic national parks of Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and South Africa. Notably, in 2021, 29 black rhino were re-introduced to Gonarezhou and there have since been some calves born.

Sean works with two different camp locations in this wonderfully wild 7-night Gonarezhou itinerary that includes 3 Nights at Mahove Bush Camp and 4 Nights at Chilojo Bush Camp with one of these nights spent out fly camping.

Note: Chilojo Bush Camp is operational during the months of April through November.
Mahove Bush Camp is operational during the months May through November with the exact opening and closing dates being determined by confirmed bookings.
Requests outside this time period will be considered on a case by case basis.
